Parent Council

Welcome to the Parent Council page

The Melrose Primary School Parent Council is a group of parents, carers and school staff. Everyone is welcome.

The role of your Parent Council is to:

  • Support the school in its work with pupils.

  • To work in partnership with the school to create a welcoming environment which is inclusive for all.

  • Represent the views of all parents.

  • Encourage links between the school and parents, pupils and the wider community.

  • Fundraise and organize social events.

  • Encouraging parental involvement.

  • Feedback your views on SBC consultation documents

As this school year comes to an end, we are looking for parents to join the Parent Council for next year.

Your level of involvement is entirely up to you. The Parent Council meets roughly once a month during term time. Meetings last approx 1-2 hours. They are a great opportunity for you to keep up to date with what is happening at the school. We are always looking for volunteers to organise and help out with fundraising and school events. Or you can simply sign up to receive the emails sent out to Parent Council members.

We are ideally looking for at least one parent representative form each class. If you are interested, either email the school or use the contact form and your name will be passed on to the Chair and Secretary. We look forward to seeing you next year.

Parental involvement – What can you do to get involved?

  • Join the Parent Council or bring important issues to our attention.

  • Fundraising events – plan, organize or help on the day. Thanks to recent fundraising events like the Christmas Fair the PC have just donated £200 to help with the purchase of boxes for the recycling room. With your help we have just helped with £600 towards book sets  (with resource packs).

  • Suggest new ways to generate funds – Our next goal is to raise money for a new sound system for the hall, and for development of the new garden area.

  • Make suggestions or help with the green school initiative.

  • Enjoy taking part in the school community in whatever way you can.
